According to the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the third leading cause of death in the United States, affecting as many as 24 million Americans and resulting in 1.5 million emergency department visits, 700,000 hospital admissions, and 124,000 deaths annually.

COPD represents an important global public health challenge that is both preventable and treatable. However, many COPD sufferers are undiagnosed, underdiagnosed, and/or undertreated. The COPD CME Center delivers practical and clinically relevant advice to healthcare professionals on how to manage COPD and optimize patient outcomes.
